25 beautiful and nostalgic photos

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Hello friends! What great things have you done lately? We were gone for two weeks, on a summer break to charge our batteries. Everybody says they had a great time and now we are ready to make interesting things for you, so keep close.

Time to impress you with a new collection of photos, this time from a single artist, Andrew (aka Cuba Gallery). I found him on Flickr looking for different themes and I have to say that his work is amazing. Take a look!

What a great source of inspiration, don’t you think?

Friday links #19

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Hi dear friends, I just realized it’s Friday so  it’s time for a post full of nice links. How are you? How was your week?

To start, let me share with you a beautiful collection of photos and artworks from around the web. Diversity, color and interesting perspective. What do you think?

I have one little question: do you like coffee? What’s your favorite? If your answer is yes, I think you might like this showcase of delicious coffee websites. For your inspiration.

For all the designers out there looking for new great fonts, here is a fresh article from Smashing Magazine who collected 30 new free quality fonts. Hope you’ll find this resource useful for your future projects.

Before I close let me show you a list of 12 Photoshop tutorials geared toward beginners. Learn the basics, the most important tools, about layers and filters, brushes and actions.

Wish you an awesome weekend!

Joys of life

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

I have a new portfolio worth sharing today at “Tuesday is for photos”. The beautiful images were taken by Lina Aiduke, a lady interested in architecture, interior design and recently in photography. Check her blog or her Flickr photostream if you’d like to see more of her work.

The photo slide show was made with PhotoSnack, as all the slideshows featured on this blog. I used Pixelate wipe, a premium template, size 500 x 400px.

Friday links #18

Friday, August 6th, 2010

How did this week passed?  It’s Friday again, so its time to post some links that got my attention. I would like to begin with an amazing collection: 50 examples of animal photography. Told you it’s pretty impressive.

For a little inspiration, here is a showcase of fresh texture-based web designs. As Noupe wrote, textured images were a big trend this year and sometimes they were used heavily, perhaps a little to much. But used in a subtle way, as the examples posted in his article can make a website look very good.

Need a Twitter bird for your blog or website? Or perhaps you’re tired if the old one and want to change it. Then this might help you, 10 free and fun bird icons. Number 10 is my favorite.

To end this blog post I want to share with you an article that I found very interesting, related to marketing: Techniques from Gilt.com, one of the most popular ecommerce websites around. Use amazing imagery, create a sense of exclusivity for your members, create a story and customize for multiple platforms are just four of the 10 lessons you can learn.

Hope you’ll have a beautiful weekend, see you next week!

Are you ready for a new beautiful photo slide show? Hope you are because I was very happy when I picked the images, so light and lovely. Just like a perfect summer afternoon.

Template picked: Vertical Flip (this is a premium template), same size as ever 500 x  400px because this is the one that fits the blog perfectly.
