Simplest way to share text and files

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

I really really like this web application because it’s the best example of simplicity: Write.fm. It solves two little problems: share text and files.

See what Anthony Feint, the smart guy who developed this product (also Task.fm) has to say about it “I really focused on ease of use with this app – there are hardly any elements on the page and the only action required by the user is to start typing.   There is no need to “save” as its all done automatically”. More on his blog.

You have to try it. What do you think?

Thanks for your feedback dear members

I just found this on Get Satisfaction regarding BannerSnack and I’d like to say a big thank you. We’re happy to read messages like this, it’s a great reward for our work.

Just a simple note

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

I just felt the need to say this: we are very thankful for a great team that is continuously evolving, for amazing members that use our products and for the ones that give us valuable feedback, for their recommendations on Twitter, Facebook and their personal blogs. We are thankful for having great collaborators that write on their blogs about our applications and that organize nice giveaways.

We’re a happy team!

Do you remember the logo redesign contest? We are happy to announce you that we have a winner, a talented guy that submitted the logos below. It wasn’t easy to choose because there were a lot of nice ideas. But on Friday, we chose the logos that were the closest to what we wish for our products:

Logo redesign for our apps

Friday, May 28th, 2010

We want to add something fresh to our identity. And since the world is full of ideas and smart people, we thought we could ask for help to redesign the logos of our applications.

So we started a $750 prize contest on the popular 99designs.com. Since the contest started, 236 designs were submitted, some of them very close to what we think would suit our apps…  some of them not so close. Until now, from all of them, these two are our favorites:

But there are plenty more here that are worth considering.

Which one do you think is the “perfect one”? We would love to hear your opinion.

As you can see, there are two more SnackTools: QuizSnack – online poll & survey software and TubeSnack – flash video player for the web. We are working on them right now, but I’ll tell you more about them in a different article.

One more important thing before I end this blog post: Do you have skills in design? Or perhaps you know a great designer that could add his ideas to this project? Submit a logo for each of our products here. There’s still time for you: 5 more days. If your design gets to be chosen, you will win the 750$. You already know our products and this is a big asset in my opinion.

Thanks for being here, have a great weekend! Don’t forget to tell us which one you’d choose.

Since we heard a lot of questions and answers about what’s going to happen to the Web after the restrictive moves that Apple has made, we felt that somebody neutral to this cold war needs to shed some light on the issue.

We think Flash can’t just fade out like some have insinuated. Moreover, Flash is going to rule the next decade. Here’s a list of 10 reasons why:

Google login, the most popular choice

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

A colleague had a curiosity about how new members log in to our products. At the beginning we only had SnackTools login (users could create new accounts using their email and a password), then we added Facebook Connect and later  Google and Yahoo accounts.

Which one do you think people use the most? Here are the numbers for the last month (1-26 April):

  • 3781 new users logged in with Google
  • 3740 made a SnackTools account
  • 2552 used Facebook
  • and 1001 preferred Yahoo!

So Google login is the most popular, followed closely by SnackTools accounts. Before I end this short announcement, I’d like to ask you whether we should add MySpace, Twitter login or OpenID to the existing options.
