We want to add something fresh to our identity. And since the world is full of ideas and smart people, we thought we could ask for help to redesign the logos of our applications.
So we started a $750 prize contest on the popular 99designs.com. Since the contest started, 236 designs were submitted, some of them very close to what we think would suit our apps… some of them not so close. Until now, from all of them, these two are our favorites:
But there are plenty more here that are worth considering.
Which one do you think is the “perfect one”? We would love to hear your opinion.
As you can see, there are two more SnackTools: QuizSnack – online poll & survey software and TubeSnack – flash video player for the web. We are working on them right now, but I’ll tell you more about them in a different article.
One more important thing before I end this blog post: Do you have skills in design? Or perhaps you know a great designer that could add his ideas to this project? Submit a logo for each of our products here. There’s still time for you: 5 more days. If your design gets to be chosen, you will win the 750$. You already know our products and this is a big asset in my opinion.
Thanks for being here, have a great weekend! Don’t forget to tell us which one you’d choose.

Crowdsourcing is a big way to get you negative press in the design community.
Partnering with 99designs is like partnering with the design devil.
If you’re really wanting to be taken seriously, you’ll respect us as designers instead of dangling carrots in front of us like we’re ignorant animals.

I agree with Judith there are better ones than the two that has been selected.

@Joshua, initially we haven’t guaranteed the prize, since we haven’t believed that we will actually find the best logos here, however, it seems that we found a couple of them that we really like. I must say that we initially wanted to put at least $1000 prize, however, most of the projects there are listed around $250, so what we did is to make sure the stake is high enough to get the attention.
If you would be in my position you would do the same, Also, the one single fact that you’re going to create an identity for such a large web app family (almost 200,000 users now) with investments counting millions of $$, this single fact would make almost any designer want to win the prize, even if it was $1.
@Jason, if you have anything better in mind, please let us know.

“Most of the projects there are listed around $250″
I think it’s important to note that most projects on the site are requesting 1 logo. Your project actually requires the creation of 6 distinct logos. You are still getting a heck of a deal even at $750.
“Also, the one single fact that you’re going to create an identity for such a large web app family (almost 200,000 users now) with investments counting millions of $$, this single fact would make almost any designer want to win the prize.”
I also think it’s important to point out that plenty of large, successful companies respect talent and pay for professional design. They don’t expect designers to work on spec just because they carry a high profile. In fact, if they are wise, they don’t entrust that high profile to just anyone off the street.
Just somethings to things about….

@Quincy,
Thanks for the feedback. They’re 6 logos, yes, but there is only one concept. We have 2 designers working with us all the time (they create templates, ads, web pages, a lot of cool stuff for us), however we wanted new fresh new look, and we wanted to give the chance to anyone out there to be able to compete and add their ideas to the pile. I don’t think that a good designer would make a better logo. There is a better chance, yes, however creativity can struck anyone and a contest like this would get the best out of many.
However, I guess you feel that $750 is to low for such a big deal. It’s not on purpose, just that we actually wanted to create a good reward, I guess not everybody feels the same. If it counts, we actually paid about $950 in order for the designer to get the $750, there are a few options that we paid to 99designs.com : bold, pinned, red, highlighted, tax, etc…
